죽음의법정 흉상 Court of the Dead Bust

Colonel TatterBurn, Leader of the 6th Nightshade Hussars

The Underworld’s affection for eccentric mortals is most evident in its enthusiastic embrace of the rogues and ne’er-do-wells that form the ranks of the Nightshade Hussars. These undead horsemen are united by their utter, reckless bravado and their enduring belief that their souls will be endlessly recycled as part of a collected consciousness. The infamous 6th regiment, led by the remarkable Captain TatterBurn, is particularly distinguished in their acts of valor and disregard for self-preservation. A braggart who lives up to every boast, Captain TatterBurn’s exploits are a favorite of Queen Gethsemoni.

Dragoon of the Red Guard, Queen’s Vanguard

It is easy to spot a member of this elite fighting squad at a distance, as the brilliant red-soaked banners of the Red Guard punctuate the parapets of Queen Gethsemoni’s walking palace. Starting as a blot of crimson on the horizon, and rapidly spreading like a pool of blood as they approach, their uniforms are painted with mortal glory, tattered and ravaged by their service to the Underworld. Drafted from honorable mortal men who sacrificed their own lives to save another, this Dragoon’s history is as tragic as any member of the Red Guard. Even so, the secrets of his past are known only to the Queen, who now holds the reins to his gallant adoration.

I started with a two-color base of ivory and a deep caramel brown to represent the overall contrast I was after. I then set in to begin pushing that contrast with a palette of colors broader than I’d ever allowed myself." - Tom Gilliland

The helmet and garments were also equally pulled from my historical memory and fashioned in tandem with staff artist and ‘troublesome nephew’ Tim Hanson." - Tom Gilliland

Relic Ravlatch, Knight of Voxxingard

The venerable order of Relic Knights possess souls so steeped in dedication that they were born anew in the Underworld still committed to their crusades. As for their desiccated bodies, well, they consider themselves only temporary guests in these toughened husks. When a Relic Knight makes the ultimate sacrifice, its form is retrieved at all costs so that another may take up residence within it, a practice that has in part earned their order the nickname of “Old Bones.” With characteristics exemplary of his order, Ravlatch is stoic, introspective and endlessly patient. A formidable strategic adversary, the Relic has loyally protected the stronghold of the Bone Faction for many eons.

Xiall, The Great Osteomancer

“There is only one truth, one purpose. One path that will ensure our future - The path of Bone.”

With a dogmatic adherence to tradition, Xiall stands as the proud leader of the faction of Bone, carrying a magnificent staff symbolizing the authority granted to her by Death himself. At the tip of her outstretched hand, a strange flame erupts from an ancient scroll, as the great Osteomancer taps into arcane knowledge thought lost long by most. Manifesting its power as her own, Xiall envisions a single path that will ensure the Underworld’s absolute protection against any and all celestial threats.

“Power is a heavy burden. Only Bone has the strength, the fortitude... the resolve... to bear the weight of decisions that require sacrifice."

Sideshow is proud to announce the Xiall: Resolve of Bone Legendary Scale Bust, the newest addition to our original Court of the Dead collection. This bust is the second piece in our legendary scale bust collection.

Senior artist and key Court of the Dead designer, Amilcar Fong, sculpted Xiall traditionally. "Since the beginning, Xiall was a wonderful character to work on,” Amilcar recalled. “She expresses elegance, pride, respect, grace - all those traits - in a character made of bone. That was tough and fun. Sculpting the bone tissue to simulate the grace of skin tissue was challenging.”

Xiall, the Great Osteomancer and leader of the Faction of Bone, is Death’s right hand and the most powerful administrator in the Land of the Dead. This highly detailed third-scale bust portrays this haunting character in all her quiet glory.

“We are basically looking into the face of a beautiful woman that has no eyes in her eye sockets!” said Amilcar, of this bust’s unique expression. “Eyes are the windows to the soul... They say. So how to give the sense of soul to a character that has no eyes?” Amilcar certainly found a way! At this compelling larger scale, Court of the Dead fans and Bone Faction devotees can shudder at the chilling countenance of this harsh Underworld fixture.

And the bust was given a unique paint job to match its distinctive expression. "From the start, we knew we didn’t want to paint this bust ‘realistically,’” said Jesse Lincoln, project manager. "I took Casey Love [the Sideshow painter who colored the Xiall Bust] into our lobby, and showed him the wear and tear on our stone tile floors as a reference. The veneer had worn away to reveal complex and subtle layers of color underneath.” This weather worn intricacy was painstakingly reinterpreted to create an other-worldly paint texture that echoes of ancient wisdom and glows with ethereal undertones.

The Xiall bust stands a stately 16 inches tall. The Bone Faction leader's imposing visage is perched atop an elegantly macabre clawed base. The stately iron crests that crown Xiall’s head are ornately decorated with cryptic symbols and peculiar ornaments.

The Xiall: Resolve of Bone Legendary Scale Bust is a stunning, morbid and commanding bust, a timeless addition to any collection, and a standout addition to Sideshow’s original Court of the Dead line.
