프랑켄슈타인 Artattack Frankenstein Boris Karloff

This is 'Simple Pleasure', a figure I made in 1994. It stands 26" tall and weighs about 15lbs and I believe I made 15 resin copies, some painted like this but most with a faux bronze and ivory finish, all of which sold. I enjoyed the process of trying to capture Karloff's likeness and especially of sculpting his hands, but looking at it now it's obvious that both his hands and head are  a bit too large for his body. Live and learn, I guess.

 

Boris Karloff Frankenstein Model ArtAttack McVey 1998

Here's the King of all "Frankenstein" model figures - the immortal Boris Karloff as The Monster, stunningly realized as a large scale vinyl model figure kit that's professionally finished, ready to display. This museum quality model was released back in 1998 by ArtAttack, being about the finest representation of Karloff's classic creature ever produced. This breathtaking Boris is the work of master sculptor Tony McVey, whose credits include creature design work for Lucas's "Star Wars" films, incredible dinosaur sculpts for museums around the world, and many fabulous model figures. Here, McVey has produced a masterpiece - the portrait is dead on, with every subtle nuance of the actor's unique face brilliantly rendered to sheer perfection. The same is true of the proportions, pose, and balance - all very lifelike indeed. The figure is flawlessly molded in heavy weight tan vinyl, featuring two neck bolts cast in white metal, and miniature plastic daisies. This one has been archivally constructed during assembly with his base weighted from within. Also, both legs have sturdy wooden dowels that run up through his waist, insuring a lifetime of stability on display. It's also lavishly painted in classic monster green skintones, with high attention given to all details.

 

And it's a large kit, roughly 1/3 scale, as Frankenstein stands a commanding 23" tall atop his stone base that measures 8 "" wide x 8 "" deep.

 

Officially licensed by Karloff Enterprises, this deluxe model figure was produced as a limited edition of only 750 models worldwide. It has been out of production for 20+ years, and is rarely found today in any form. This one's spectacular, and is surely one of the finest tributes to the undying Monster ever produced.
